Warrant Amnesty Offered October 13-24, followed by WarrantRoundup
In an effort to clear thousands of
collectively outstanding warrants totaling millions of dollars from the City of
College Station and the offices of the BrazosCounty
justices of the peace, a warrant amnesty period has been scheduled for October
13-24.
About the amnesty period:
The amnesty period allows citizens
with outstanding warrants to avoid paying a $50 (per case) warrant fee if fines
are paid in full. No partial payment schedules will be allowed if citizens want
to avoid the $50 fee. The City of College
Station accepts cash, cashier’s check, credit cards, money
orders, and personal checks. It should be noted that outstanding warrants
cannot be paid via College Station’s
online citation payment system.
About the local warrant roundup:
From October 27-November 7, local
law enforcement officials will conduct a “warrant roundup.” City marshals,
police officers, reserve police officers and constables will arrest citizens
who failed to pay their fines during the designated amnesty period.
College Station Municipal Court
Judge Edward Spillane emphasized the convenience of the amnesty period. “This
countywide effort is a perfect way for citizens who believe they have an outstanding
Class-C warrant to check with the appropriate court and take care of their
business,” Spillane said. “Why risk being arrested or paying a warrant fee for
each case when this option exists?”
Citizens who are uncertain whether
outstanding warrants exist in their name may contact:

Phone Scam Warning
The Bryan Police Department would like to advise its
citizens of an automated phone scam. The
message says it is calling from First National Bank, then goes on to say, “Your
account has been locked. To unlock your account, call 1-800-691-8559 and
provide your account number.”
The automated message has called several people in the Bryan area. Local bank officials confirmed it did not
originate from their phone system, and that they do not send out automated
recordings with that information. This
automated recording has nothing to do with First National Bank, or any other
local banks. The person(s) behind the
phone scams are criminals and they are using reputable businesses to try and
steal personal information for their own personal gain.
Here are some helpful tips to prevent being scammed.
·Legitimate
banks will not call a person and ask for personal information over the
phone.
·Never send money or give out personal information such as credit
card numbers and expiration dates, bank account numbers, dates of birth, or
social security numbers to unfamiliar companies or unknown persons.Whether it is through email, fax, phone calls,
or mail never give out your information.
·If
you are solicited after bank hours or on weekends, you should call the bank
during normal working hours to verify with the bank that more information is
needed.
·Unsolicited
calls should be verified before information is given out.

TEXAS GREAT PYRENEES RESCUE ADOPTIONS!!!
Adoptions are held
the first Sunday of every month at Pet Smart in College Station from Noon - 4
pm.
We have
beautiful dogs that are in need of homes. All our dogs are current
on their vaccinations, have been spayed/neutered and are treated for Heartworm
and on preventative and flea free. The dogs are kept in foster care and not in
kennels. Most are crate trained and have some basic training. Puppies are
available as well as live stock trained guardian dogs.
Successful
rescue isn't done by one but by many… We are desperate for fosters that are
willing to work with these gentle giants. Can't foster, we have many other
areas that we can use volunteers in as well!
This
rescue group holds the 501(c)(3) non profit status with the Internal Revenue
Service and completely run by volunteers. Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue (TGPR) was
created in January of 2001 to provide an organized group of caring members to
help the overwhelming number of pyrs in need in Texas. We are dedicated to the protection and
rescue of Great Pyrenees in Texas and the surrounding areas. TGPR helps
Pyrs that are considered at-risk for physical/mental injury, cruelty and
abandonment that may be subject to euthanasia and inhumane
treatment.
